I've been crazy about systems lately.
Maybe it's because I'm spending more time learning how to run a business efficiently (the time management struggle is real as a solopreneur) or maybe it's my type-A personality.
Actually, it's probably from binge reading Val Geisler's blog...
Either way, systems like my favorite online scheduler and task manager help keep me sane when I'd rather spend my day helping my patients one-on-one, instead of falling head first into an e-mail hole just to book an acupuncture appointment or check in with a coaching client.
So when a coaching client asked me how I manage to stay healthy while running a business all on my own, I quickly realized that I had brought my love of systems into my health and wellness routine without even realizing it.

1. My Fitness Pal
When I'm trying to make gains at the gym, I track my macros (macronutrients) to make sure I'm getting the right proportions of protein, fat, and carbs. The My Fitness Pal app is the quickest, easiest, and handiest way to track my macros on the go.

2. Plant Nanny
Did you know that you need half your body weight in ounces of water daily? You need even more if you've been drinking coffee or alcohol! The Plant Nanny app helps you track your water consumption by growing a cute potted plant every time you drink a glass of water. But beware! If you start to dehydrate, so does your plant - wilting if you don't get enough to drink.
3. Miracle Morning
Who said a system had to be computerized? The miracle morning is based off of a book by the same name. The premise is based off of the best daily practices from the most successful people, and condensed into a 60 minute morning ritual.
After doing the miracle morning as prescribed for a month, I switched it up a bit to fit my personal goals more. Now my morning routine includes 10 minutes of meditation, visualizations, and affirmations/matras over a steaming cup of my favorite herbal coffee blend.
Moving my body daily is key not only for my physical health, but also for my sanity and my productivity. But traditional gym memberships never worked for me because I'm not very motivated to work out on my own. Enter CrossFit! I love that I only need to be motivated enough to put on my workout clothes and get my butt out the door. Once I'm at Solcana CrossFit my coaches already have a planned workout for the day and my gym buddies keep me motivate to lift heavy things and break a sweat.
5. Bullet Journal
Although my Google calendar will always have my heart, my brain now belongs to my bullet journal. This is where I keep my business and life organized and running smoothly. All my to-do lists, inspiration, blog ideas, etc are kept together in an old school composition notebook. I like to sit down with it before bedtime and plan out the following day's goals and tasks. I credit it with quieting my brain for a good night's rest.

6. Meal Prep
Eating healthy is one of my top priorities. But it's easily becomes one of the first things to go when life gets crazy. Ever since I started carving out time every Sunday to prep and cook up lots of healthy staples, it's never been easier to eat healthy all week long. Want to see what I make on a typical week? As someone who lives with an autoimmune disease (one of these day's I'm going to sit down and write a blog post about living with Crohn's Disease...) it's helpful to track daily symptoms. I love that the Symple app tracks symptoms ranging from digestive, to chronic pain, to headaches, and everything in between. And it also tracks the time of day your symptoms pop up or any other influencing factors like how well you slept that night, if you drank alcohol the previous day, or if you're on your period. Plus, I'm a sucker for good design and ease of use and this app has both in spades.

8. Clue Period Tracker
Tracking my period is a big part of my hormone free birth control plan. I know there are tons of free period trackers out there, but the Clue Period Tracker is so well designed that I obviously fell head over heels for it. Keeping track of this info is also super helpful if you're working with an acupuncturist or naturopath to regulate your cycle or boost your fertility.
